Serenity 2: A New Hope?

Postby philip.mitchell » Thu Oct 04, 2007 5:47 pm

There's an article on moviehole.net about the possibility of a sequel happening... according to Alan Tudyk...

http://www.moviehole.net/news/20071004_ ... _hope.html

?They had to put [the new DVD] out because they?ve been selling out of the other one and so Universal?s like ?So, let?s do another one?. And now? there?s now a chance there?s going to be another movie?.

Hope is out there....

I hate to squash everyone's hopes, but the official representatives at the convention said this is a hoax. This is wishful thinking on the part of the stars.

There is every chance that Serenity 2 might become a reality IF there is enough interest shown world-wide.

Jewel Staite said she has not been contacted about this and says she hates to get her hopes up. It's heart-breaking.

Why can't the fans just pay for it?

Are there 2 million fans that would pay $20 each for the next film?
It could be released online for free, and on DVD for sale at that point... but in reality, it wouldn't have to make money because it'd be already paid for by us, for us.

If it DID make money, put that toward a third film.

If Hollywood isn't letting the people make these movies, we should just cut them out of the picture. What right do they have to tell us what we HAVE to watch anyways... I feel like I've been teased and tormented, like a child in a candy store, with no money.

Fox is a joke. I'm furious. Hell, I'll friggin produce it.

Not a bad Idea. It'd be the ultimate fan film, in a way. With projects like Bellflower and Into the Black going on, myabe there's a chance some producer will se the amount of effort that went into a fanfilm and think "Wow. Those are some dedicated fans. Look at all the money, time, and effort they putinto making this, with no hope of a reward. I wonder how well a new Serenity movie would do...? of course, the major problem with this happening, is that, first a producer would have to see the fan film, which means more publicity, or perhaps somone on the inside getting word of mouth around about "that new Serenity thing." Small fan films like this are the hope of small films. Gonna sound cheesy, but with projects like this, I have no doubt the Browncoats will rise again.
